Stephanie Thorassie, the Executive Director of the Seal River Watershed Alliance, shared this statement: “Today Prime Minister Carney announced a new nature strategy that supports advancing protections in the Seal River Watershed. We welcome the possibility of future federal funding if our elected leaders, the Manitoba government and the Government of Canada decide to move forward together to protect the Seal River Watershed.”
“The Prime Minister’s commitment to future funds shows that protecting the watershed is not just important to our Elders and our communities but to all Canadians. We are proud to care for these lands and waters on behalf of all people. And we are grateful to work with our partners and will continue negotiating our vision for the watershed.”
